Al-Falah University Under Scrutiny: What You Need to Know (2026)

A University Under Fire: Al-Falah Faces Scrutiny After Red Fort Blast

The recent explosion near Delhi's iconic Red Fort has sent shockwaves through India, and one institution finds itself at the center of the storm: Al-Falah University in Faridabad. But here's where it gets even more troubling: the university is now facing intense scrutiny not only for its alleged connections to individuals involved in the blast but also for misleading information on its website.

Connections to the Blast

The spotlight fell on Al-Falah after it was revealed that Dr. Umar Un Nabi, a Kashmiri native who perished in the car explosion, was employed at the university's medical college. Adding to the concern, another Kashmiri doctor from the same college, Dr. Muzammil Shakil, was arrested just a day before the blast for stockpiling explosives and allegedly planning terror attacks. Al-Falah has publicly distanced itself from both doctors and others linked to the plot, claiming they were merely employees. However, the presence of a suspicious Maruti Brezza car found on campus, currently under investigation by Jammu and Kashmir Police, further fuels the unease.

Misleading Accreditation Claims

And this is the part most people miss: the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), India's quality certification body for higher education, has issued a show-cause notice to Al-Falah. The university's website proudly displays NAAC accreditation for two of its colleges, but the NAAC asserts these accreditations expired years ago. The Al-Falah School of Engineering and Technology's accreditation ended in 2018, while the Department of Teacher Education's expired in 2016. Despite this, the university continues to advertise these outdated credentials, potentially misleading students, parents, and other stakeholders.

Demands for Accountability

The NAAC's notice demands a response from Al-Falah within seven days, questioning why legal action shouldn't be taken against the university. It further suggests that the Haryana government and other regulatory bodies like the National Medical Commission, the National Council for Teacher Education, and the All India Council for Technical Education should also consider taking action. The NAAC even raises the possibility of recommending the withdrawal of Al-Falah's recognition by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Unanswered Questions and Lingering Concerns

The discovery of Dr. Umar's diaries, which reportedly mention dates coinciding with the blast, raises further questions about the extent of planning and potential involvement of others. CCTV footage showing Dr. Umar entering Delhi in the car that later exploded adds another layer of complexity to the investigation.

A Call for Transparency and Responsibility

The case of Al-Falah University highlights the crucial need for transparency and accountability in educational institutions. While the university denies direct involvement in the terror plot, the misleading accreditation claims and the presence of individuals linked to the blast on campus raise serious concerns.

What do you think? Is Al-Falah University being unfairly targeted, or does it bear responsibility for the actions of its employees and the misinformation on its website? Should regulatory bodies take stricter action against institutions found to be misleading the public? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
